Daniel D. “Dan” Sparks (born July 5, 1968) represents SD 27, which includes all or portions of Mower, Freeborn, Dodge, Faribault and Steele counties. He was first elected to the Senate in 2002, and was re-elected in 2006, 2010 and 2012. Sparks is currently chairman of the Senate’s Jobs, Agriculture and Rural Development Committee. He is also a member of Senate’s Higher Education and Workforce Development, and Environment, Economic Development and Agriculture Budget Division. His special legislative concerns are job creation and support for K-12 and Higher Education. He attended college at St. Cloud State University and University of Minnesota.
He and his wife, Andrea, live in Austin with their four children.
