Senator Melissa Halvorson Wiklund is serving her first term in the Minnesota Senate representing Senate District 50, which includes the cities of Bloomington and Richfield. Sen. Wiklund serves as Vice Chair of the Health, Human Services, and Housing committee, in addition to serving on the Education, E-12 Finance, and State and Local Government committees. Her legislative priorities include education, health care, job creation, and environmental protection.
Prior to her service in the Senate, Sen. Wiklund served on the Bloomington School Board for three years, the last as Chair. On the School Board, Sen. Wiklund chaired the Legislative and Superintendent Evaluation Commit- tees as well as participating on the Labor Management Committee. Sen. Wiklund worked in the telecommunications and Internet Services industry as an engineer, manager and director and is an honors graduate of the University of Minnesota with degrees in Electrical Engineering and Interior De- sign. Sen. Wiklund graduated from Kennedy High School and still lives in Bloomington with her husband, Craig and their two children.
