Susan Kent is the State Senator for SD53, which includes all of Woodbury, Landfall and portions of Maplewood and Oakdale in Washington and Ramsey Counties. Her legislative focuses are on economic development and jobs, education and transportation. Senator Kent serves on the following committees: E-12 Finance Division, Education Policy, Higher Education and Workforce Development. In addition, she is the Vice-Chair of the Transportation and Public Safety committee.
Senator Kent has more than 20 years experience in strategic marketing and media for a broad range of companies and organizations. She left marketing to stay home with her son and became active in the community, founding the Twin Cities East chapter of Mothers & More, and as a leader in PTA and an advocate in South Washington County Schools.
Senator Kent and her family have long-held ties with the east metro community. Her husband, Chris is a Maplewood native and has worked for 3M for almost 30 years.
They are the parents of a 12-year-old son, Andrew.
